ML Service Provisioning for Earth System Science
Presenter
DescriptionThe German Climate Computing Centre provides services for its four shareholders and the German national climate research and earth system science community. In the past, services were centered around high performance computing, climate model support, and data management. With the advent of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods in the field of climate research, DKRZ will extend its service profile. The effort at DKRZ will be undertaken by two subgroups, one for the development of services, another one for scientific research. Both are embedded into joint research programs with our users and cooperate closely. DKRZ will also develop a training program to disseminate new concepts to our users. The next generation high performance computing system will integrate a considerable number of accelerator nodes that will speed up execution of machine learning programs on parallel environments. The talk will highlight the combination of technical, organizational, and scientific measures in order to integrate AI/ML into climate and earth system science.
